An Apple a Day....

...keeps the doctor away! I've been really good about eating lots of fruit during this pregnancy. Luckily, they taste great to me right now. Vegetables? Not so much. And I love veggies too....so I don't know what the problem is. I have managed to get them on pizza, in pasta sauces, and veggie filled pasta salad. It doesn't surprise me that I have to add vegetables to a boat load of carbs to enjoy them thouroughly. I've always loved my carbs, but now? Ahhh, cheese and bread. I could live on it....oh, and fruit, too!

Speaking of apples, today marks 15 weeks into the pregnancy! Our little guy is about 4 inches long crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of that delicious pink lady apple I just enjoyed). He's moving amniotic fluid through his nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in his lungs develop. His legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all of his joints and limbs. Even though his eyelids are still fused shut (poor little dude), he can begin to sense light. BabyCenter.com suggests that if I shine a flashlight at my tummy, he's likely to move away from the beam. I look forward to passing each new week so I can read about the developments, and they never cease to amaze me!

We had our monthly checkup on Wednesday. All is well! I think Dr. Smith must have been on her way to labor and delivery, because she seemed even more rushed than usual. She came in, whipped that Doppler right out (147 bpm - perfect, she said), asked if we had any questions, and then let us know our next appointment would be the big anatomy scan. This would have been when we would find out the gender, but of course, we all know I was too impatient to wait that long. But, it will be nice to have it confirmed again. We really have zero doubt that we've got a boy in there though. The main purpose (and importance) of the anatomy scan is making sure the baby is developing properly. They will measure crown to rump, around his middle, and around his head as well as the four chambers of the heart, the kidneys, bladder, stomach, brain, and spine. This is going to make me a bit nervous, of course, because I want everything to be perfect. But, I'm going to  remain as calm as possible. June 30th is the big day!

As usual, I'm very happy it's Friday. Tomorrow Rob and I are driving 60 miles away to Canton, TX for their Trade Days Flea Market. Our purpose? We are attempting to find a great dresser or chest for the baby's room. We've looked at some new baby furniture and some of the prices are ridiculous. Plus, I don't want everything to be too 'matchy'. We'll buy a new crib, but for the rest of the furniture, I'm hoping to find some cool, antique pieces. Wish us luck....it's going to be crowded and hot!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
