Baby is now the size of an onion and his skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone and the umbilical cord is growing stronger and thicker. He should weigh about 5 ounces now, and is around 5 inches long (still only from head to bottom....he may have some long legs in there!). He's now big enough for me to have the potential of feeling him move around. I *think* I might have felt something a couple times in the last week, but I can't be positive. I have an idea of where he likes to 'hang out' in the womb from the last two ultrasounds and I felt two light jabs in that area last night as I was laying to go to sleep. It was exciting! But at the same time, I can't be 100% certain that it was actually him, since it doesn't continue long enough for me to monitor these feelings. Hopefully within the next 2-3 weeks it should be pretty obvious and often. I'm also looking forward to feeling movement from the outside so Rob is able to feel a bit more included in my experience thus far. Baby D is also developing yawning and hiccupping skills, which I might also be able to notice soon as well.
As for me, I've been getting pretty big fairly quickly in the last week or so. I don't think there's any denying I look pregnant at this point. I've definitely noticed people at work looking straight at my belly, although no stranger has had the nerve yet to ask me anything like 'When are you due?' or 'How far along are you?'. Soon enough, I'm sure! Our team assistant made the comment yesterday that I had a little basketball in my belly, ironic since I was sporting my Mavericks shirt at work to celebrate their NBA championship!
I'm so happy it's Friday, and we've got a busy weekend planned. Tonight we have a 'date' with another expecting couple, our friends Kris and Leslie. First it's dinner and then bowling. We haven't been in quite some time so I'm looking forward to it, if we can get a lane on a Friday night, that is! Tomorrow we're off again on our hunt for an antique-ish baby dresser...this time to the McKinney Trade Days. I may not have the patience and/or energy for much more hunting so if our search runs dry this weekend, we may be forced to buy a new dresser. But hopefully we'll have some luck....I'm trying to remain positive! Wish us luck.
I almost forgot to mention that it's Father's Day this weekend! Happy Father's Day to my dad, my father-in-law, and my wonderful husband and father-to-be....along with all the other great dads out there! Thank you for all you do for your children. :)
