Hello 2nd Trimester!

I am so happy (and relieved) to say I have officially moved past the 1st trimester. I welcome you, 2nd tri! Supposedly this is the best, and most comfortable, trimester of pregnancy. I hope so! Not that I can complain too much with what I have gone through so far, but I am really hoping I get some energy back. I am tired of being tired!

I received an important phone call this morning, the results of my blood work from the NT scan! I am very happy to say that our risk for Down's went from 1 in 305 pre-screening (based on age and other factors that I couldn't tell you about) to 1 in 7,093. Our risk for other forms of Trisomy went to 1 in greater than 10,000 after screening. So, needless to say, I'm very happy with the results and am feeling giddy. I think the hubs and I will celebrate with something fancy tonight.....well, if Pei Wei is fancy. Don't judge, we've got a baby coming and have to stay on a budget!

Yesterday we got home from a great weekend in Oklahoma City celebrating the high school graduation of Rob's niece (now my niece as well!). She's such a smart girl and graduated with top honors and also received scholarships for college (she'll be attending OSU in the fall). Rob and I are proud of her, and found ourselves saying several times over the weekend how much we hope our little one is as bright and successful as she is!

Today marks 13 weeks, 3 days into the pregnancy. One of a kind fingerprints have formed on his or her tiny fingertips and the little body is finally catching up with that giant head, which is now only 1/3 the entire size of his/her body instead of 1/2. Should this little baby be a girl, then she already has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. It's amazing to me that this is even possible! Now at about 3 inches long and weighing in at nearly an ounce, he/she is about the size of a peach! Mom is sort of looking like she has a peach in her belly at this point too. :)
