The countdown continues! Just 14 days to go until D day, and we're basically just waiting at this point. I sit every night thinking, "Could it happen tonight? How about tomorrow night?". However, I'm just not feeling like it's going to happen any time this next week. Plus, I really have a lot to do at work this week so I'm sort of hoping he holds off until at least next weekend. I have to get my replacement at work up to speed, and I've really been procrastinating on getting a document together with anything and everything I can think of that my temp could possibly need while I'm out. I want to avoid as many phone calls from work as I can while I'm off. I can't believe that next week is most likely my last week in the office before 12 weeks of maternity leave. If I haven't had little man by next weekend, I'll work from home like normal the Monday before Thanksgiving and depending on my progress from my doctor, my work has approved me to continue to work from home Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That way, if I go into labor, I won't have to drive myself 30 miles home! I'm using a vacation day on my due date....I think I deserve to have that day off if the baby is not here yet! If he comes late, then I will work from home until he arrives. So, chances are good that I only have 4 more days of driving in to the office before my leave. Exciting! I can't believe we should have our baby boy in no longer than 3 weeks - since he's on the larger side, I don't think my doc will let me go past 41 weeks without suggesting an induction. Let's hope he makes his debut on his own before then!
Getting closer and closer to my due date means there's less and less to report about this little guy. His organs have now fully matured for life outside the womb and he's still just working on getting more plump each week! His skin has now officially changed from pink to white because a thicker layer of fat has been deposited over the blood vessels.
As for mama, I'm doing well! Not experiencing any contractions or Braxton Hicks yet (that I know of) so this is part of the reason I don't expect anything to happen any time soon. I just feel a lot of pressure as he drops lower down and some cramps here and there. I'm headed out this morning on our day off for my manicure and pedicure....maybe some relaxation will send me into labor! I think I'll take some nice, long walks this 3 day weekend to help as well. We have our 38 week checkup on Monday where I will ask my doctor what 'natural' labor inducing tricks she approves for me to start (primrose oil, red leaf tea, etc.) and we'll go from there.
Here's a short video I shot on Tuesday at work of some Baby D belly moves! Normally he'll move around longer but I caught him on the tail end of his dance party. Maybe I'll be able to get a better one this weekend. I edited the video to where it shouldn't be sideways, but you might have to expand it or play it a second time to view it correctly. Enjoy, and have a great weekend!
