10 Months Old

On October 4th, my little baby turned 10 months old!! Double digits! I just cannot believe it. Only 2 months until we have a 1 year old...a toddler! Time is flying, and I cannot say I'm ecstatic about that fact. Luckily, we get to watch our baby that was once a tiny little helpless newborn grow into a curious, smart and funny little boy. He's so sweet and I just can't get enough of him!

I'm 10 Months Old!

 I love my teddy bear

Ronan can now cross "Airplane Ride" off his list of firsts! We went on our first family vacation a couple weeks ago. And it went as well as we could have hoped. Ro was a champ on the plane, only getting fussy for a couple minutes - not enough time to have us get too desperate, nervous or embarrassed about having a screaming baby on the plane. We even upgraded to 1st class on the way there, and I think I saw a couple looks of panic from other 1st class passengers, but I didn't care. I was worried about the comfort of our little guy before I was worried about them! He did great and was, as always, quite the charmer. We got plenty of smiles, looks and "he's soooo cute" the whole time.

Once we arrived at our destination, good ole New Orleans, LA, we went straight to the hotel to get checked in early. We got there and had an unexpected surprise waiting for us! We had paid for a King size room, but I had called ahead asking for a mini fridge (for bottles & baby food) and a crib and I guess that indicated "screaming baby" to the staff, so we were upgraded to a two room suite in the corner of the building, pretty much away from any other rooms. It was beyond great! Our living room had a balcony facing Royal St. in the French Quarter and our bedroom had a door opening up to a beautiful courtyard. We really hit the jackpot for the room. We settled in and went straight to the French Quarter for lunch and cruising around. I definitely wouldn't say this was a relaxing trip, but it was well deserved and needed. I only wish Rob hadn't been sick for the trip and his birthday, and then I got sick on the way back and was miserable on our last day off together as a family before heading back to the real world. I could definitely use a "do-over", but unfortunately that won't happen for a while. Holidays and craziness at work are ahead for the rest of the year. What's important is we spent 4 days together as a family and Ronan got to experience something new. He did great observing and spending time in his stroller and exploring in the hotel room and he even slept well. We have got quite a wonderful baby. We didn't get as many pictures as I would like, but we got the one in particular that I wanted....when we found out we were going to have a baby that day back in March 2011, we were leaving for a trip to New Orleans just 10 days later. I took a picture by the Mississippi River happily placing my hands on my still-flat belly, beyond excited for the life growing inside me. My one request this trip was to head back to the same spot, holding my baby that I dreamed about that first trip. In just 18 short months I experienced pregnancy, birth, and now have a 10 month old beautiful baby.

A room with a view!

In the last month Ronan has really learned how to pull himself to a standing position like a champ. He can't get enough of it and LOVES to stand up, sit down and stand up all over again. I think it will be quite some time before he will walk but that's okay with me. :) I think within the next month we might see him stand up unassisted, and I will freak out when that happens! He's been babbling "dadadada" for quite some time now, but now I really think he associates it to Daddy at this point. Rob will walk in the door and he looks right at him and says "Dada??" as if asking a question. He is also starting to learn what we are actually saying to him. He has a toy truck he loves and when we say "go get your truck" he will look right at it and most of the time will crawl right for it. While he hasn't said Mama yet, if Rob asks him "Where's Mama?", he will turn right to me. He can also repeat "Uh Oh" if we say it to him and can mimic me blowing kisses at him. It's amazing to watch him and I can barely remember when he was this little infant who would never even move. He's so much fun! He is really getting opinionated so included in this months 'likes' are also his 'dislikes'!

Ronan LIKES:
Standing
Crawling (and playing "I'm gonna get you" with Mommy)
Laugh coughing - yes, this is a term I made up!
Eating with his nearly perfected pincer grasp
Waving
Putting his hand under running water in the bath tub
Blowing kisses

FOODS
Pasta with homemade sauce
Cheese cubes
Picking up and eating peas
Literally shoveling goldfish crackers in his mouth
Tomatoes
Muffins
Country potatoes
Bread with melted cheese
Avocado (of course)
Yogurt

Ronan DISLIKES:
Getting in his car seat
Diaper changes
Putting on or taking off clothes
Getting in his high chair

We just couldn't love our little boy more! Now to get started on planning a little 1st Birthday party. Only 56 more days to go until my little one isn't "technically" a baby anymore (although he'll always be my baby). That also means only (around) 56 more days of breastfeeding! I will nurse him as long as he would like in the morning and evening, but it will be time to say sayonara, so long, take a hike, to that pump. I'm not excited about that or anything. :)
Playing with tupperware

Bottle break in the playroom

Standing up on the gate in baby jail

Enjoying his first "big boy" bath

This is fun!!

Ronan has started making the funniest noises when he "talks", here is a short video where I was able to capture the cuteness!
