7 Months Old! (and then some...)

Oops! I'm a bad mama...I missed updating my baby's 7 month birthday on July 4th! I realized today that I needed to get this done and written, otherwise I will be skipping all the way to his 8 month! Time; slow down!!!

I'm 7 Months Old! July 4th, 2012

Ronan at 1 hour old, 1 month old, and 7 months old!!

So, I'm pretty sure that I love my baby more than anyone has ever loved a baby in the entire universe. In all seriousness, I've learned over the last seven months why the saying goes that you will do anything....absolutely anything....for your children. To me, he hung the moon and he is way better than any old piece of sliced bread, that's for sure.  I feel like the luckiest mom in the world to have been given such a wonderful, beautiful soul as my son, and I count my blessings every single day to have been given the opportunity to be his mother. Aaannnnnddddd, moving on from the mushy stuff!

Ronan is getting so big!! Since we've started incorporating solids into his diet, he has really started to get some good baby fat on him. His little legs are so deliciously chunky. My sister is in town for one of her two per year visits with her kiddos and when she was holding him yesterday he looked HUGE in her lap, especially since the last time she saw him he was just a little over 2 weeks old. It really all just goes by way too fast.

I'm still struggling a bit with being a full time working mom. RoRo spends 10 hours away from me during the day, and he sleeps 10+ hours at night. You do the math - that's how much I see him each day during the week. I hate it! I did, however, start a new job recently and my commute was cut down by 85%. That's right, I'm 85% closer to home now! I'm very happy about that and - bonus - during the summer months I leave at 1:00 on Friday. I've only experienced two of those so far, but my boy and I enjoyed our 'Mommy and Me' time together on those days. I would still give anything to just work part time, but this is how it will be for now. Anyone have an almanac with winning lotto numbers I can borrow?

Here is a recap of what our boy is up to these days and some of his favorite things!

Foods
Yogurt
Chicken
Peaches
Pumpkin
Cinnamon
Organic "puffs" and mum-mum's (baby rice snacks)
Sweet Potato
Green Beans
Butternut Squash
Pears
Apples
Banana
Avocado

I bought all the ingredients to make a baby friendly vegetable stock that can be used in a ton of recipes in one of my baby cookbooks, so the more and more food he gets introduced to, the more I can get creative with recipes. I made this tonight and the kitchen smelled so great, it made us want to make soup! We also had a lovely lamb chop that I baked and pureed that we'll try sometime this week. I gotta say, pureeing a piece of lamb and putting it in ice cube trays is definitely weird and a little gross!

Ronan loves to eat his little puffs and mum-mum's. I can't wait for him to keep practicing and perfecting his pincer grasp so he can get started on table foods. I'll probably give him a couple small pieces of banana or avocado here soon to see what he thinks of eating them on his own. Video and pictures to come of that experience!

Ro's favorite things
Bouncing - whether it be in his bouncer or in your arms, he's gonna bounce like mad!
Standing at his activity table (thanks, Grandma and Grandpa D!)
Laughing
Babbling "babababa" and "dadadada", particularly loudly when we're in public, of course!
Rolling all over the place; diaper and clothing changes are near impossible
When he's propped up in his play nest (basically an inner tube), he's able to sit himself up. He can't do this from a flat laying down position yet, but he's getting there.
Snuggling Mommy and Daddy and giving "hugs" when you pick him up
Grabbing lips, noses, trying to claw out eyes, pulling hair - anything painful, he does it! :)
Playing peek-a-boo

Regarding that last activity, Ronan is really beginning to understand that when someone or something goes away, that it can come back and didn't just vanish into thin air. I walked out of the room yesterday and he started wailing. As soon as I came back around the corner he was fine, so he's getting a little needy (not that his Mommy minds this AT ALL). I also played with one of his stuffed toys and while I hid my head behind it and pretended to be the "voice" of the stuffed animal, he started pulling it down to reveal my face....and then he would bust out laughing. He knew exactly where I was and he is very proud of himself these days, for very good reason!

He loves his play table!
Everything we do these days is for that wonderful little boy. Rob and I painted our living room last week. How we got this accomplished, I don't know! We managed to work on it a little every night after Ro's bedtime and before ours...which doesn't leave much time! After spending almost 4 months in solitude during my maternity leave in my dark living room, and going through the things I went through, it was time for a change. What else came with that paint change? Why, new furniture of course! Our couch is one that I have had since before Rob and I got together and it's pretty small - you can tell I purchased it for my smaller one bedroom apartment! So, we bought a more family oriented couch with a chaise attached. I can envision the family Friday night movie marathons now. We also completed the purchase with a new end table and a huge storage ottoman - awesome for playing games and putting our feet up. We're anxious for August 4th to arrive for the delivery of our new living room!
