Wee One's Room

Well, I'm starting to feel like things are finally coming together, and all this work we've done for the past few weeks is actually starting to show itself! We still have a lot of little details to put together, but the most important part - the crib! - is here and put together. It's so lovely, and the perfect size for the amount of room we have. Plus, even though we had some trouble with the first crib we picked out, it all worked out for the best in the end. Our original choice was an espresso colored crib and I think with the dark walls and the rest of the furniture being so dark, the crib would have blended in with the wall. Our second choice is just perfect, and it's so exciting to see it in our unborn son's room. I told Rob to think - in just 3 1/2 months (possibly less), we'll have a baby sleeping in this room, in this crib. It's still just so unbelievable to contemplate. I know everyone talks about the "9 long months" of pregnancy, but I really haven't found them to be too long! I sort of hope things slow down a bit from here on out so I can relax, enjoy, and mentally prepare for this life changing event.

We attended our first class yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. It was definitely worthwhile for the CPR part alone; I am confident that I would have enough knowledge to resuscitate my child should, god forbid, the situation arise where it was necessary. I do have to say, I've never been in a room with that many pregnant women at one time in my life! The first part of the class was infant care and then you break for lunch and head to the fitness center of the hospital, where you take the second half; Infant CPR. When we arrived we had trouble finding our names on the sign-in sheet. Not a problem, another dad in the room said our names were probably on second list the nurse had, because his was. So we look and sure enough, there it is. Little did I know that it was the list of registrants for the afternoon childcare class. We didn't realize until we arrived at the CPR class in the afternoon (where the maximum capacity was only 14) that we flip flopped and went to the wrong courses at the wrong time. We weren't the only ones that did this - the instructor made a comment that her afternoon classes always seemed to be overbooked - well, that's because the registration email was NOT very clear which class was first. Regardless of that fact, we felt pretty dumb and definitely did not admit to this wrong doing out loud. We just felt bad at the CPR class when the instructor had to drag out more practice dolls and scoot everyone to make more room at the tables. Oops! *shame face*

Below are a couple pictures of the room in progress. Now remember - the room is just that; in progress. I have a lot more ideas and finishing touches to make, but this should suffice as a teaser for now. :) We also finally put together the dresser we purchased that will double as the baby changing station. I'm also using an old chair as my makeshift glider for now. We have a glider picked out that we may purchase, it's just not on our list of 'must haves' so we'll have to see about that a bit later. Tomorrow I'll start applying our huge tree wall decal, which is just going to be the finishing touch to the crib, bedding and my overall 'theme' to the room. Enjoy!
