25 down, 15 to go!

Wow! We're already at 25 weeks.....as I stated before, this pregnancy is moving quickly...almost too quickly. We've got 105 days to go until our due date, so almost to the double digits. We finally graduate to a new fruit this week; an eggplant! Hmm, maybe it's time for me to try and make ratatouille for the first time to celebrate this new growth milestone. I've always wanted to make it ever since I saw the movie Ratatouille. I guess I've got some time to find a good recipe, since the baby won't be a new 'fruit' for another 4 weeks. But that's okay, baby will still be packing on the weight during this time! I'm part of a Facebook group that's comprised of over 100 girls from across the U.S. and Canada that are expecting during the month of November, and a girl on there mentioned that her doctor told her the baby has the largest growth spurt during weeks 24-28. I feel a very stretched out belly in my future. But at least this explains my surge in hunger this past week. Yesterday we got up at 5 a.m. to go to the gym, and after the workout I managed to consume half my daily calorie intake by 10 a.m. I just could not seem to get enough to eat.

Speaking of my Facebook November moms group, it's been a lot of fun to be a part of this page and see what people are posting about, their aches & pains, their milestones, their sonograms, their belly and nursery photos, you name it. It's all very entertaining, plus it's a free support system! One of the girls decided to put together a 'onesie' exchange, so whomever wanted to participate was drawn a random name (electronically, thanks to the online site Elfster) and you get to shop for your secret buddy by sending them anonymous messages asking them what they like, dislike, need, don't need, etc. and send them something special that you picked out. Well, my day was made yesterday when I received my gift in the mail from my onesie buddy. She was able to reveal herself in her note, and ironically her name is Katie as well. And let me tell you, she was an awesome buddy to have! I was somewhat dreading this exchange because, like Secret Santa's, I always seem to put so much work and effort into my gifts, and I usually get a re-gift in return! Haha. I definitely lucked out this time, and now I feel like I didn't get my buddy a good enough gift! *sigh* I just can't win! Here is a picture of all the goodies I received. I love the homemade onesie with the tie, and the baby leggings are adorable. I have heard these make for easy diaper changes and already had some listed on our registry. I had not yet seen the cute firetruck ones! She also gave me some stickers to put on his shirt every month to take growth photos. I had been eyeing these on Etsy for some time, so she really seemed to get my style to a T. Her note indicated that she has a 20 month old little boy herself, and she reassured me how much fun little boys are, and of course I always here from everyone how much they love their mommies!

Alrighty....at week 25, baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches from head to heels and weighs about a pound and a half. He is finally beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some good ol' baby fat! His wrinkled skin will start becoming smooth so he'll begin to look like the adorable newborn that I know he will be when he gets here. He is also busy growing more hair, and that hair now has pigment, so bye-bye white hair, hello brown (possibly red??) hair!

In other news, I made some progress on the room this week! As you know we put the crib together last weekend and on Monday I started to apply the wall decal. It took me almost all week, but I finally completed it last night and I must say, it's looking just as I had hoped and the room feels magical, soothing and perfect for our little guy. I have some finishing touches to do, like purchase the rug and ottoman I have been eyeing and finish framing the art pieces, then the room should be complete. We just need a few clothing/diapering essentials....and of course, the baby!....and we'll be ready to go. Here is another updated picture, enjoy! We're off to our birthing class tomorrow, and I must say, I'm pretty nervous to watch the infamous birthing video. Yikes! Have a great weekend.
