The Glass is Half Full

That's right - we have officially hit the halfway mark! 20 weeks pregnant and roughly 20 more to go! It really has gone by quickly, but I feel like the next 20 weeks will go by just a bit slower. First of all, I have only known that I'm pregnant for the last 16 weeks. Second of all, I'm not HUGE yet. I'm sure the bigger I get (and the hotter it gets in Texas), the slower the time will go by. But I'm really okay with that. As I've said all along, I'm really focused on enjoying this time and not trying to rush it. I look at it as having 20 more weeks with my little guy all to myself, before he joins the world and brings joy to everyone else around him and not just me. I'm having such a great time feeling him poke and jab around in there, and it's comforting knowing that I'm never really alone. He's my constant companion. However, talk to me when he gets bigger and stronger and is ninja kicking my ribs and maybe I'll feel differently!

Baby is supposed to be about 10 1/2 ounces this week, but we learned last week at our anatomy scan that he's already measuring about 11 ounces....so I'm assuming he's around 12 right now! He's also about 6 1/2 inches from head to bottom (about 10 inches total). Comparatively, he's the size of a cantaloupe! He's now gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. We got to witness his little jaw moving to indicate he was practicing this just last week during the sonogram. Apparently, his taste buds are even working these days. Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Good thing I've had quite the taste for fresh fruit and vegetables lately.

I'm still feeling pretty darn great, considering the horrible heat and the fact that I'm pregnant. I've gained 8 pounds so far, right on track to hit my 25-30 pound goal. According to babycenter.com, I should expect to gain about a pound a week from here on out. I've been maintaining my exercise routine, and hope to be able to do so until the very end. This will be crucial in making sure I don't go over my suggested weight gain, and I can only assume the better shape and health I'm in, the easier the delivery. Something interesting that's happening now are my moments of nausea. It goes as quickly as it comes on, and I have not been physically ill at all, but it's still strange. It seems to happen after he's had a dance party in my belly, so my thoughts are that my body doesn't handle the moving around of other organs very well. I've always had a problem with getting queasy pretty easily....I can take; as long as I don't get sick!

This weekend we are taking it easy! With the expense of the new AC and the fact that we purchased a stroller this week, we'd like to spend as little money as possible. We will, however, be heading over to the Taste of Dallas tomorrow afternoon for food sampling galore of various restaurants across the metroplex. A pregnant woman's paradise! Our goal is to get there as soon as it opens...I can't take much of this unbearable heat. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Below is a picture of our stylin' stroller we bought, I can't wait to see it when it arrives! It is a different color than the one I originally wanted, but this one was on closeout so it was cheaper. Strollers are one necessary item that barely ever go on sale, and most stores exclude coupons for them. Figures! Oh well, I found this and love it....plus saving $50 helped quite a bit. :)
