We have a little bean!

Today we had a GREAT appointment. Another sono, just 1 week and 6 days since the last one and the difference is amazing! Before, we had about an appleseed sized black dot, which was the sac. All we could see today at first was a larger sized sac with nothing in it, and I about panicked. Then, the baby appeared, as if out of no where!! I could immediately see the flicker of the heartbeat, and the machine was able to tell us right away it was beating at 128 bpm. She even turned on the sound and we could hear it! It was amazing to think that the heartbeat we were hearing was not mine, but that of our teeny, tiny little one.

I'm measuring earlier than we thought, just as my doctor suspected because I have longer cycles. So, I went from 7 weeks 4 days to 6 weeks 5 days. Therefore, my due date has changed from November 19th to November 25th...the day after Thanksgiving! I'm hoping I'll be holding a baby at the dinner table on Thanksgiving, and not miserably awaiting labor! HA! Wishful thinking!

We are a bit bummed to have added another week on to our countdown to revealing to friends and family that we are expecting, but we will wait patiently.....I hope. I am very happy and relieved we saw the heart beat, and that made it just that much more real to me. Wow - I can't believe what's going on in my body right now. Life is an amazing thing.

Starting Friday, my 7th week, baby will be the size of a blueberry and about 10,000 times bigger than he/she was at conception. Most of that growth is concentrated in the head as new brain cells are generated at the rate of 100 per minute. The mouth and tongue are forming as arm and leg buds sprout, and the little kidneys are getting ready to do their job (pee production and excretion).

The next appointment is 4 long weeks away, at which point the doctor said the next milestone is hearing the heartbeat on the doppler. I can't wait!

Enjoy the first pictures of Baby Daffer, our little bean!
