Family

This past weekend and the Sunday prior were big days for us, we told our immediate families about the big news...well, minus my brother Mike, he'll be informed this weekend at Easter dinner! As expected, everyone was very excited for us and I think they cannot wait (especially our moms!) to have a new baby in the family. In fact, my mom said, and I quote, "I don't think I've ever had anyone say something that has shocked me this much". I guess they weren't quite expecting us to have a baby so quickly! And to be honest, neither were we. But I am content with the fact that things just happened how they should have, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

So far, Dad and Grandpa Warren think this baby is a boy. Aunt Tamara thinks it's a girl...and no one else has any opinions yet! I always thought I wanted a boy first, but now I would love to have a girl too (truly, I just want one healthy baby). I don't really have a strong feeling either way yet but if I had to put my money on it right now, I would pick a girl. Everyone needs to cast a vote on my survey to the right!

In baby news, today marks nine weeks...sort of a 'graduation day' for the little one. He/she has officially transitioned from an embryo to a fetus. Hooray for the fetus! Now nearly an inch long and about the size of a grape or green olive and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. He/she is starting to look more human, and all the essential body parts are accounted for, of course they will continue to fully develop in the coming months. The heart will also finish dividing into four chambers, the embryotic 'tail' is completely gone, and organs, muscles and nerves are kicking into gear. It's all quite amazing.

I'm feeling good, I still haven't experienced any sickness or extreme food aversions (knock on wood). I've been a bit moody, but mostly at work. I hope Rob would say I haven't been too difficult to deal with so far! Probably the pregnancy symptom affecting me most is the exhaustion. I dread cooking, cleaning, and fixing lunches in the evening because all I can think about is my nice, comfy bed. I'm still managing to work out 4-5 days a week, but it's a huge struggle. I'm looking forward to getting some energy back, and hopefully soon!

12 days until our next doctor's appointment! I think we are about 90% certain we will get the NT scan done and if so, it will happen between 11-13 weeks, and after that we will be able to tell everyone! I'll be happy when I no longer have to be secretive, and I'm sure our parents are chomping at the bit to be able to tell their friends. :)

Oh, and on an important side note....today is Earth Day! Just a reminder for everyone to do their part, be good to our planet and recycle, recycle, recycle! This is important for our children's future and future generations! Until next time.....
