St. Patrick's Day

Ah, how time flies. I can't believe it was FOUR years ago today that I found out I was going to be a Mommy. Here I am, 4 years later with the sweetest, most beautiful boy there ever was! We've definitely had a rough few weeks (or is it months, now?) with the potty training, the misbehaving, not listening and just in general trying to figure out how to parent a 3 year old. He has been (relatively) easy to figure out up until this point....the magical number 3 changed all of that for us. BUT, I finally am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel - knock on wood. His consistency with going to the potty is much better, we aren't having to clean up pee or poop all day long anymore, and he just seems to be getting out of his "funk" which I am sure came along with the potty training. I see my sweet & happy, spirited boy emerging again, and I'm so happy he is back!

As I was getting ready for work this morning, like I do every morning during the week, all the sudden I heard Ro's bedroom door crack open. This is unusual because generally we have to draaaaaaag him out of bed on school mornings. "No FIVE more minutes!!", he always exclaims. Today he popped his head out of his door and I see him sleepily stumbling down that hall...."Mommy, I need to go potty. I done napping today" (bed time is always nap time to him, no matter what time of day it is). "Okay honey", I say as I turn on the hall light so he can see in the bathroom. God forbid I actually turn on the bathroom light. "TOOOOO BRIIIIIIGHT" is the response I get when I do that. He sits down and I sit on the stool to just make sure he is, ah hem, pointing everything in the correct direction to avoid a mess. This was our conversation while he went potty:

Ro: Mommy, Daddy goes pee pee and poo poo on that potty :::points to big potty::: all the time.
Me: Yes, and so does Mommy.
Ro: And so does RONAN! Mommy, if you want to see Kieran today, you need to go get dressed.
Me: Okay honey, but we aren't going to see Kieran today. It's a school day. Kieran doesn't go to your school.
Ro: Mommy, I SAID if you want to see Kieran today, then you need to go get dressed now :::points to my bedroom::: Mommy, I got some goooood rest last night.

He just says the coolest things sometimes. I am constantly amazed at his vocabulary, his imagination and just feel that wow factor every time he talks. Oh, and as of late he has almost completely memorized the movie Big Hero 6. This kid remembers EVERYTHING. He never ceases to amaze me and his Daddy!
