Papi Free!

I can hardly believe it as I'm typing this, but my baby is officially "papi" (pacifier) free!! Yes, I know what you are all thinking...it's about time, right? Well, in my sweet boy's defense, it has really been his only "lovey" he has ever had and to me, since he only used it at night, it wasn't causing harm in my humble opinion. It's not like at 3 years old he was walking around with it hanging out of his mouth and causing him speech delays! Then, we might have had an issue on our hands!

How it all "went down" if-you-will, is we were putting our babe to bed on Tuesday evening and he was biting his pacifier. He does this quite often and I sternly told him "No, do NOT bite papi. If you keep biting him or he breaks, I will have to take him away". Well, our little booger looked me right in the face and bit down hard. So, I took papi away. While he protested, I felt the tip of it and it had a big tear in it. Uh oh. In my head I worried this would be a DISASTER. I told him, "Honey, if you bite him again I will have to take him away...look, he's already broken". He grabbed it from me, gave me a sad look and then looked up at me with pathetic eyes and handed it back to me. I COULD NOT believe it.

Thinking this was a fluke, I calmly kissed him and said goodnight and told him he made the big boy choice and that the "papi fairy" was going to come soon anyway. I slowly walked out of the room and shut the door. To my amazement, he slept all night without asking for it...he has been waking up in the middle of the night a LOT lately and crying (we assume from dreaming) but he never asked for it. On Wednesday at bedtime he said "Papi is all fixed!!" and we said nope, sorry honey, he can't be fixed this time! And that was the end of it. Thursday night there was not a mention and he slept really well that night.

All I have to say is SEE, Dad...you thought making him give it up was going to be tough. :) I am pleasantly surprised and the pacifier "fairy" will be bringing our Ro a couple new Big Hero 6 t-shirts and a stuffed Baymax since he is currently nothing but obsessed with that movie. I'm a little sad as this was my last bit of "baby" I had of him, but I'm happy this was an easy transition!

Now for cute pics!

EDIT 3/7/15: fixed all my grammar and spelling mistakes (I think). That's what I get for writing a post at the end of the work day on Friday when I'm trying to leave! And I'm now editing at the gym...not much better. Hey, you find time when you find time, right?

Poor broken papi
