Happy Birthday To My Baby!

Holy crap - where did the last year go? I swear I just gave birth two months ago....yet here we are, 1 whole year later! I don't think it's hit me yet, and I can't believe I can say I have a 1 year old! This has been a wonderful year, granted full of ups and downs. I had some wonderful times.....but some equally challenging times. I cherish the 4 months I spent at home with Ronan, yet I do not miss the recovery of my surgery or my unfortunate experience with postpartum depression. I am sad I couldn't be home with him his entire first year, yet so grateful for his wonderful daycare and how much the teachers care for him and the baby friends he has made. My emotions are so mixed. I am grateful for being able to breastfeed for the entire first year, and I love the bond it created for Ro and I, but it was one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. But I can tell you one thing - every single second of the last year was worth it - and more. Because I have the best, funniest, smartest and sweetest baby on the planet! And quite frankly, the cutest - I am absolutely not biased at all, this is just truth! :)

Mommy and Daddy wouldn't miss this day for work! So, we are off to spend the day together. Ronan must have known it is his 1st birthday because he woke us up bright and early at 5:30, ready to go! So, I'll make this short and sweet so we don't lose any time with our big boy today! Hopefully we'll have some fun pictures and videos to upload later from this special day. We're also looking forward to Ronan's big birthday party this weekend!

Ronan LOVES:

- Feeding crackers to Mommy
- Walking while we hold his hands
- Pushing his walking toy
- Clapping when we sing "Patty Cake"
- Hugging his stuffed animals
- Showing us what he's playing with by holding it up and/or handing it to us
- Being "surprised" when we open doors by opening his mouth open as wide as he can and acting like he's never been outside before
- Opening cabinets (time to really baby proof now!)
- Drinking water out of straws (yet he refuses to drink out of a sippy cup for more than a couple drinks)

Ronan HATES:

- Being changed
- When you take away anything he was playing with (even when he shouldn't be)
- Getting dressed
- Getting undressed
- Getting dressed
- Did I mention getting dressed?
