One Proud Mama

Today I took the day off to spend some time with Rob (he has this week off until he starts his new gig on Friday), and to get some very important baby matters accomplished. First, we had our rescheduled 3D appointment and I must say that I was very discouraged that baby would be cooperative. I just figured it would be my luck that we spent all this extra money on the 3D sonogram only to be disappointed. But, I'm happy to say I was wrong! He (unfortunately) has not turned head down like I thought he had, but instead was transverse (meaning, side to side). Our tech was convinced he's in the 'process' of turning into the correct birthing position. Let's hope so! The good news is that this transverse positioning was great for getting some decent shots, but we did have a couple snafus at first!

As soon as she put the wand on my belly, he greeted us with a nice, big yawn...it was so cute, but unfortunately she was in the process of getting his heart rate and hadn't began recording the session. So, unfortunately we don't have this on the video. Then once she got started, we had a lot of good face views, but that darn umbilical cord was in his face nearly the whole time and was blocking a good view of his mouth and chin. We tried everything; pushing on my belly, turning to the side, yoga stretches, etc. and it took almost the entire session to finally get that cord out of the way enough for some good shots. After the stretches, she had me drink a big glass of freezing cold water, and then he got the hiccups. This was just adorable to watch, even though I felt bad for him! You could see his entire little body move with each hiccup. If you watch the video, you'll be able to see that. She was also able to point out that he has hair!! She pointed to the back of his head and you could see it sticking out and it looked sort of like spikes. It's long in the back as well. I told Rob, he's going to have a mullet, ha! All in all, it was a great experience and made the fact that this baby is well on his way all the more real. I just want to cry when I look at these pictures. I loved him before of course, but seeing him like this just makes my heart even more full. It's hard to believe how much we can love someone we have yet to meet. He's our perfect little boy.

The rest of the day was spent meeting a pediatrician, and we really liked him a lot. Tomorrow we'll make sure he's on the top of our OB's recommendation list and if she approves, we'll go with him. We also think we found a backup daycare. Our #1 choice does not have waiting lists, so they are not able to guarantee us a spot in February. This does not put my mind at ease, so we needed to find a guaranteed spot somewhere. The place we found is a little more out of the way than we would like, but we figure we will put down the registration fee that will hold our spot and if our first choice is open when baby arrives, we will just lose the registration fee at our backup. That way, we are safe either way. I would hate to lose the registration money, but it's not a large sum and is a small price to pay to make sure we have good childcare guaranteed.

Tomorrow is my 30 week checkup, I can't believe we just went 2 weeks ago...and will go again in two more! Time is counting down...less than 75 days until D Day!!

Please enjoy our video from today's 3D sonogram as well as some of our favorite pictures. We cut down the video from 30 minutes to less than 14 so hopefully we left only the interesting parts. Enjoy!
